Trek’s Travels offers a selection of early reader books with a read-along narrator. Welcome to Reading contains books for new readers with the same read-along narrator. Words are highlighted as the narrator reads so it’s easier for auditory learners to follow along.
- Britannica offers Learning Zone which is for PreK-2nd grade kids. This resource offers activity-centered learning to explore, play, read and build technology skills. Letters, numbers, geography, shapes and more are included.
- PebbleGo is a curricular content hub specifically designed for K-3 students. Students in 2nd-5th grade have been working very hard learning how to use our library database.. This database is extremely useful in helping the students to choose amazing books, that they love and are at their level. This is crucial to their reading success. We passed out directions to access this at home. In case they became misplaced they can be found below.
Destiny Discover Your child can make book lists, check which books they have out and even leave book reviews!!! Go to libraries.resa.net; Choose Allen Park – Your child's school – Destiny Discover on left To log on to Destiny Discover, you should use the same number you use to log on in the computer lab (the 8 digit number that starts with 2000 or 2001) as your username, but the password is the ENTIRE 8 digit number again (in the computer lab it is just the last 4 digits). You can copy the number from your lunch card if you don’t have it memorized. If you have any questions feel free to contact us at [email protected] ~ Erin Woods [email protected] ~ Colleen Byrne This week we will begin to discuss the United States Constitution. 1) No in-person tutoring at the library. We are currently still doing curbside service only and will be doing so until we have all the necessary precautions in place, and the Governor moves us into phase 5. Even then, we will be open for appointment only and we have made the decision to do only virtual programming for the rest of the year.
2) Tutor.com is available for any Allen Park resident with a valid AP library card and PIN, and internet access. This resource is also great for adults looking for resume building and the like. Tutors are available everyday between 3-10 PM to help with any homework need students may encounter. 3) AP residents can apply for a library card online at https://www.allenparklibrary.org/librarycards.asp. These are temporary cards that will be good until January 2021 and can be used for all digital and print resources the library offers. 4) We will still be doing virtual programming in the Fall. I am still hammering out the details, but once finalized, I will send over some promotional materials that I hope you will share with your students. Students and families!!
